I recently found these sweet treats on Pinterest and decided to try making them to hand out as favors at our Christmas party next week. They were really easy to make and I can’t wait to dip one in my coffee tomorrow morning!
Here’s what you need:
Pack of plastic spoons
milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate, peppermint bark, etc. to melt
SPRINKLES! JIMMIES! JELLY BEANS! WHATEVER ELSE YOU FEEL LIKE!
Optional: pretzel bags (if you want to gift)
Melt your chocolate of choice in the microwave or on the stove. If you need it to be thinner/runnier, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil (not olive!)
Use a spoon to pour chocolate into the, uh, other spoon. You want the chocolate to be nice and level in the spoon, so don’t add too much. You may need to shake the spoon around a little to get the chocolate evenly distributed. The most important part is to prop the handle of the spoon up on a plate, tray, or trivet so that the chocolate will be level when it sets.
Add all decorations and treats you want. I highly recommend adding a jelly bean. The Jelly Belly Ice Cream Parlor mix has great flavors for this project. I picked colors that would coordinate with my Christmas party theme (all peacock colors, teal, purple, green, and gold). If you’re adding chocolate, wait until the chocolate is a little more set so it does not melt into the spoon.
Step 4: (Optional)
Cut the pretzel bags so that the edge of the plastic reaches halfway down the handle of the spoon. Secure with some ribbon or raffia and voilà! What a sweet little present.
I’m adding these to my Culinary Compilation Board!
